All teams, except Ligier, stayed at Estoril (Portugal) after the Grand Prix and were testing there today. Most of them were running tests for the 1997 season. Michael Schumacher was fastest with a 1m 21.61s, he was testing a 1997 tyre for Goodyear with a heavy fuel load. Giancarlo Fisichella upstaged Jean Alesi, 1m 22.30s, and took the second best time of 1m 22.28s.

Jorg Muller got his first test with the TWR F1 team, he was 14th and last with a 1m 25.97s. However he only did eight laps. Verstappen was a lot faster with his TWR with a 1:23.46s, 9th time of the day. Verstappen was running a Bridgestone test again.

Emmerson Fittipaldi had a meeting with Rubens Barrichello today to discuss the possibility for Barrichello to come to the Indy Car Series. Fittipaldi wants him to test a Hogan-Penske.

Christian Fittipaldi, who has done a great job this year in Indy Car also likes to see Rubens come into the series. His uncle said that Barrichello never had the opportunity to show his talent in Formula One.
