Former Williams driver David Coulthard has praised the Williams team at the Senna trial.

He testified: "After the accident I had no doubts whatsoever over the integrity of the car and the people in the design team."

The prosecution had stated that the steering wheel of Senna's car was too flexible. Coulthard had reacted to this by saying the steering wheel was just flexible. He now testified to this in court with a short film of him sitting in a the Williams of 1994. "My view of the Williams Grand Prix team is very similar to that of many people who have a great deal of respect for them," said Coulthard.

The prosecution has also argued that the corner in which Senna crashed is not a corner in which a car would go off like that unless something was wrong. Coulthard again didn't agree: "The first time I drove a Formula One car there it was quite frightening because it was so fast. For the first two or three laps I wasn't going flat out because I had to build my confidence. It's a very serious corner, high speed and high G-force."

Accused from Williams team are to appear tomorrow.

Schumacher admits mistake

Michael Schumacher has realised that not admitting the mistake he made with trying to take Villeneuve off during the last race is not the way to go. He knew before the race that if he or Villeneuve would take the other guy out points could be deducted. Schumacher stated: "If you know this...it does not make you a champion. It just makes you look very stupid."

He added: "I am human like everyone else and unfortunately I made a mistake. I don't make many but I did this time."

He said about his firm reaction after the race that he didn't make a mistake: "Not everything was clear to my mind then. There is no point in saying I would have done the same. That is wrong...my reaction for sure in the future would be different. You are so determined to fight and do your best. I took a wrong judgement. I will have to live with the consequences of this." The consequences could be that he is disqualified for one or more races next season. Schumacher is due to appear in front of the FIA council on November 11, but he is not worried about this: "I am happy to go down there and withstand whatever the outcome. I want to make clear this purpose and intent business about the accident."
