Jacques Villeneuve will have to fly across the Atlantic this week to meet with FIA officials on Wednesday. Because of his personal media campaign against Formula One rule changes next year, the FIA ordered him to appear in person to state his opposition in formal proceedings. Villeneuve said: "I think it's going to take a lot away from the driver. Instead of still being the ultimate sport that it is, it's going to become more of a show and a circus."

Villeneuve asked that the hearing date be rescheduled because of the disruption in preparation for the Canadian Grand Prix. The FIA firmly refused.

New Yamaha

The Arrows team will use the new spec D Yamaha engine during the next Grand Prix but only in qualifying. It was first expected that the team had to use the Spec C engine throughout the season because there were problems with the oil and water temperature with the new engine.
