Newey to leave Williams for McLaren

Chief designer at Williams Adrian Newey will leave Williams for McLaren. This was rumoured for a long time because Newey had made it clear he wanted to leave. A Williams statement said: "The parties have agreed that no further comment will be made on this matter."
The Williams team already lost one of their leading aerodynamicists, Egbahl Hamidy, to the Stewart team last year.
Newey will start his work for McLaren on August 1.
- The Senna trial is postponed until May 6 when also a new calendar will be drawn up. Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone was due to appear on April 24 and World Champion Damon Hill had to testify on April 28.
- Benetton also wants to continue using Renault engines after they quit at the end of this season.
- Frentzen is hoping for an end to his bad results. He said: "The tests in Barcelona have brought me important experience and it has also extended my contact with the team. (...) I will try to score some points."
