Former Ferrari designer John Barnard has signed a deal with Ferrari to take over the development company they had build up together. A ferrari spokesman said: "A final agreement was signed yesterday between Ferrari and John Barnard to conclude the arrangements for the transfer of its English facilities."

Barnard's company is to be known as B3 Technologies Ltd. And will operate: "totally autonomously in respect of Ferrari."

Jacques Villeneuve was just like yesterday the fastest man on the track. He clocked a fastest time of 1m 17.82s. He was spotted using grooved tyres in a run. Jean Alesi was second with a time of 1m 19.55.

Jean-Christophe Boullion tested the 1998 Williams, 180 cm wide over the 200cm cars now used, he was just like yesterday last.

Schumacher used the 046/1 engine to get the car set up for the track. Irvine used the 046/2 engine yesterday. He commented: "It was a good day. We need to do a lot of work to find a good set-up as it is difficult to find a good balance on a track like this."

The organisers of the San Marino Grand Prix have signed a deal with the FIA which will extend the San Marino Grand Prix license on the Imola track until 2001.
