The Sauber-Ferrari deal may go through after all. Ferrari announced this week that the further talks with the Sauber team were cancelled because Sauber had already said the deal was made although this was not the case. The plan is now that Sauber will buy 40 Ferrari V10 engines, like the ones used in the Grand Prix of Japan, and rebuild them to Petronas engines. The set-up of the Sauber engine factory run by Osamu Goto will go ahead according to plan.

Silver for McLaren

Jürgen Hubbert of Mercedes has stated that the basic colour of the 1997 McLaren-Mercedes will be silver. He has said this during a meeting in Stuttgart (Germany). Mercedes had a lot of successes in Formula One with their 'Silverarrows' in the 1950's.
