Car and engine manufacturers Porsche and BMW don't have any plans for entering Formula One at this time, any reports saying otherwise are, according to the company's, just speculations. A spokesman for Porsche said: "I have to disappoint you: Porsche will not return to Formula One now." BMW said that they have not yet made any decisions regarding Formula One.

F1 auction

Formula One fans can spend their savings at Olympia in West London on November 30 when 300 items of Formula One stars are being sold. Among these are personal memorabilia of the late Ayrton Senna like steering wheels and a set of overalls used by Senna, racing overalls worn by Juan Manuel Fangio and the three litre Champion bottle which Damon Hill used to celebrate his title at Suzuka last month, this last piece is expected to fetch up to 6,500 pounds, about 10,000 US dollars.

Peter Card, automobile expert at Brooks the auctioneers, said: "There is incredible interest in this type of sale and people pay high prices to own something used by their heroes. An empty champagne bottle signed by Senna sold by us for 8,000 pounds in September. Helmets sell very well because they are quite attractive to display."

You do have to spend a lot of your savings - some date from the auction held in spetember: Stirling Moss's first ever helmet made 26,450 pounds, Jackie Stewart's overalls made 22,425 and a signed Senna steering wheel set a world record of 23,000 pounds.

Senna's items are expected to do extremely well again. A set of overalls used by him in the Monaco Grand Prix in 1984 for the Toleman team is expected to set another record.
