Michael Schumacher has completed the planned tests for Ferrari today at Monza (Italy). Schumacher continued to work on the set-up of his car and he also carried out some brake tests. The World Champion drove a best time of 1:25.62. Schumacher used an evolution 2 engine. The German said after the tests: ""I am happy with the way the test went. The car is fine. (...) The outcome of next Sunday's race? It's difficult to say as I don't know how the other cars will perform on this track. Qualifying should go well, but there is a big question mark over the race, in terms of reliability, especially for the gearbox."
Johnny Herbert was also testing at Monza. He drove a best time of 1:27.31. Herbert tested a new evolution of the V10 Ford engine.
Pedro Lamy was third and last with 1:28.93.
Alain Prost was for McLaren the fastest with 1:28.04. Gerhard Berger was second with 1:28.14. Sospiri was third with 1:28.29.
