It was just like in Francorchamps, last weekend, thousands of people with their Decra caps and Ferrari flags were supporting their current World Champion, Michael Schumacher, at the Monza (Italy) circuit today. The beautiful Monza park was over-crowded by Ferrari fans. Eddie Irvine completed his tests with the test car, best: 1:27.10. Schumacher tested with a F310 fitted with the new rear diffuser, but not with the new 7speed gearbox used in Spa last weekend, best: 1:25.14.
H.H. Frentzen was also testing for another day at Monza. He continued to work on the set-up of his Sauber-Ford for the upcoming Grand Prix of Italy. He came to a best of 1:27.655.
The financial suffering Minardi team tested with their second driver, Lavaggi, he drove a best time of 1:30.84.
Gerhard Berger topped todays times at Silverstone (England), 1:27.91. Ralf Schumacher could enjoy a second day of testing for the McLaren-Mercedes team, he came to a best of 1:28.01.
Morbidelli was testing for the Jordan-Peugeot team. He tested the 1997 Peugeot V10 engine, with a best of 1:30.18, 7th. Ricardo Rosset was carrying out another test for Bridgestone. The first driver for the Arrows-Hart team, Jos Verstappen , was supposed to carry out the tests but he is still unable to drive due to his injuries caused by a high speed collision with the tyre-wall in Belgium last weekend. Rosset was ninth with 1:31.67.
