Mika Salo has been retained by Tyrrell for the 1997 Formula One season. The higly rated Finn's future was announced at a Tyrrell press conference yesterday.

Team Boss, Ken Tyrrell, said that he was very pleased with Salo performances so far this year,and noted that "We still have five races remaining of this year's championship and the team will make an announcement concerning our other drivers in due course." The teams second driver, Ukyo Katayama, has been with Tyrrell since 1993.
