It has been reported that the rumours on Frentzen going to Williams next year were not just rumours. It seems that the German driver has already signed a provisional contract and Frank Williams will decide before the Grand Prix of Britain next weekend.

Renault has already made clear that they don't want to lose the World Champion again and that they want the number 1 on one of their cars for their last year in Formula One.

Michael Schumacher has denied the rumours that he was going to drive for Mercedes in the near future: "Ferrari and I are negotiating a contract for 1998, and Ferrari wants my signature as soon as possible."
