Heidfeld Takes Over Sauber Testing at Mugello

Thursday September 20th, 2001

German Nick Heidfeld continued testing today for the Sauber team at the Mugello circuit in Italy.

After Brazilian Felipe Massa completed his two days of work for the Swiss team on Wednesday, Heidfeld took over, working on tyre assessment and evaluation in preparation for the United States Grand Prix. The team also concentrated on aerodynamic development.

"We had a very good day," admitted Heidfeld. "It always a good feeling to be the only team on the track and to be able to continue the program without any interruption. In this situation one saves a lot of time. We finished the program for the day and ran trouble-free."

Heidfeld completed a total of 79 laps with a best time 1:23.810, compared to Massa's time of 1:23.790 set yesterday.
