While the racing team gets ready for the Austrian Grand Prix at the A1-Ring circuit, Ferrari's test team worked on Thursday at their Fiorano circuit.

Italian test driver Luca Badoer was at the wheel of the F2001, concentrating on development of new aerodynamic solutions for this year's car, setting a fastest lap of 1:00.846.

Badoer covered a total of 20 laps (7 on the short track) remaining within the 50 km testing limit as outlined in the sporting regulations covering testing in the week when a Grand Prix takes place.

"We did this test at Fiorano, because we had already thought of bringing a new aero package to Austria," said the team's technical director Ross Brawn. "Usually, this track requires a medium to low downforce set-up to try and get good maximum speed down the two straights.

"However, you have to be careful not to leave yourself with so little that the car becomes undriveable in the mixed sections of the track."
