Friday was the third and final day of testing for Ferrari and BAR at Mugello. Both Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello were driving, whereas Ricardo Zonta was joined by test driver Patrick Lemarie for BAR.

Barrichello set the fastest time of the day, over one second faster than teammate Schumacher, who nonetheless expressed satisfaction with the day's work. "Today we did a lot of set up testing for Spa," said Schumacher at the end of the day. "Yesterday, Rubens did an endurance run which he was very pleased with."
