McLaren test driver Olivier Panis was fastest at testing at Silverstone yesterday.
Panis was over three seconds faster than any other driver on the circuit, with Jordan's Heinz-Harald Frentzen second fastest, Frentzen ending his day's testing early when he felt less than 100% in the afternoon.
Third fastest was Jos Verstappen for Arrows, working on suspension set-up and electronic software development, with the overcast but dry conditions allowing work to progress well.
Tomas Scheckter, son of 1979 World Champion Jody, and currently competing in Formula 3000 and British Formula Three, had his first test in a Formula One car, driving this year's Jaguar. Scheckter managed to get down to a time just over 1.5 seconds slower than regular test driver Luciano Burti, showing promise for the future.
