Ferrari's Statement on Court of Appeal's Verdict

Saturday October 23rd, 1999

After the verdict of the FIA Appeal Court was announced, Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo made the following statement:

"Ferrari is very satisfied with the verdict which overthrows the Stewards decision taken at the Malaysian Grand Prix and which recognises the total conformity of our cars with the regulations.

"This verdict reaffirms the values of the sport which have inspired Ferrari over fifty years and restores to us and our fans the great victory achieved on the track, which confirms the quality of our work.

"We worked quietly in order to demonstrate to the Court in a professional and incontrovertible manner the fundamental truth which led to the decision which has put to rights so many unjust interpretations levelled against us these past few days, about which I was very unhappy.

"Ferrari appreciates the seriousness and high level of professionalism with which the FIA Court of Appeal has dealt with this case. Now, all our energies are devoted to trying to win the final and decisive Japanese Grand Prix."

The verdict of the FIA Court of Appeal completely absolves Ferrari, who will make no further comment, except to sincerely thank the Automobile Club d'Italia, for once again effectively defending Italian interests in the international arena.
