Deutsche Post Joins Jordan

Tuesday December 14th, 1999

Jordan announced today a major new sponsorship deal with German post and transport logistics company Deutsche Post.

The deal, which will run initially for three years, signals a major step forward for the team, which finished third in the Constructors' World Championship last season. It should ensure Jordan’s financial stability well into the next decade.

Commenting on the sponsorship Eddie Jordan said, "This deal is great news for Jordan and the most significant commercial step since Benson and Hedges joined us as title sponsor in 1996. The signing of this major partnership will have an enormous impact on our programme and strengthens even further our sponsor portfolio. For the first time in the company’s history we have our entire technical and commercial programme secure before Christmas and mapped out for the foreseeable future. This will give us the confidence and security to really push ahead with our challenge for the World Championship titles."

Deutsche Post was drawn to Formula One by the sport’s global presence and the intense media interest it attracts. The German company and Jordan make perfect partners; both represent high technology, speed, competition, and reliability. In addition, Jordan’s striking yellow livery matches Deutsche Post’s corporate colour, and the presence of German driver, Heinz-Harald Frentzen, in the team will be an enormous asset in Deutsche Post’s marketing.

On announcing the deal, Deutsche Post Chairman Dr. Klaus Zumwinkel said: "Deutsche Post is an international company dealing in high speed logistics solutions, and Formula One is an ideal platform for us. We chose Jordan Grand Prix because it is the team which has won the hearts and support of the fans and spectators and because it is the team for which one of Germany’s sporting heroes, Heinz-Harald Frentzen, drives."
