Hakkinen stays out front
On a track that started out wet and dried out in the closing stages of the session it was Mika Hakkinen who continued to dominate the practice time for the McLaren-Mercedes team , the Finn having a trouble free session to set the fastest time, but still off his quickest laps yesterday. David Coulthard found it hard to balance his car as the track dried and was unable to better fourth fastest, half a second off his team-mate's times.
Schumacher ready for qualifying dual
Michael Schumacher is ready for his qualifying dual with Mika Hakkinen for the pole, the Scuderia-Ferrari-Marlboro driver less than one tenth of a second slower than Hakkinen this morning after fitting a fresh set of tyres. He damaged one tyre after a trip across the chicane at one stage. Eddie worked on his race set-up throughout the session and was happy with his car's performance although he only set the tenth fastest time.
Ralf Schumacher well up for Jordan
Ralf Schumacher was more than happy with the way his car was handling this morning after setting the third fastest time, revised front wing end plates and engine modifications improving the performance of his car since the last race. Damon Hill made progress with the handling problems of his car this morning, although it wasn't reflected in his time because of an engine sensor problem which prevented him setting a quick lap.
