The Jordan team have announced that they have no interest in signing Damon Hill for next season. The team will continue with both drivers.
Eddie Jordan said: "Youth has always been a key element in Jordan's team policy. So I can tell you that we will be starting next season with Ralf Schumacher and Giancarlo Fisichella."
Flavio Briatore wanted Fisichella to go to Benetton next year but Eddie Jordan does not intend to let Fisichella go.
Mika Hakkinen spun of the Monza (Italy) track at High-speed, during the tests there, with smoke coming from his McLaren. The Fin could walk away unhurt but his car was badly damaged. The mechanics have not found the cause of accident yet.
Hakkinen commented: "I was doing over 300km/h."
Jean Alesi was fastest with Ralf Schumacher second.
Michael Schumacher tested the 046/2 engine again but he was not completely happy with the performance of the car: "We're working on a lot of different solutions for the set-up. It's difficult to make comparisons on today's times, both for ours and the others drivers, because of the different fuel loads in the cars. We're still lacking a little something in terms of top speed. And we've got to work on that, and improve the aerodynamics of the car at high speed."
Former Formula One driver Gigi Villoresi has died at the ago of 88 Modena (Italy). He has competed with teams like Maserati and Ferrari. Despite having had several pole-positions he has never won a race.
