It was reported Canadian Jacques Villeneuve would drive for BAT Reynard in 1999. He will continue to drive for his current team Williams in 1998.

Villeneuve will become a shareholder. His partnership with the team will be for five years and there will be about 300 million dollars invested in it.

But nothing is sure yet. Reynard managing director said: "At the moment, the official line is that we are just one of many companies being considered by British American Tobacco (BAT), if they decide to pursue a Formula One venture. We would definitely consider entering Formula One, but only if we have all the right pieces in place, including the budget, drivers, engine and tyre package. At the moment, the story is all speculation and people are jumping the gun."

Gerhard Berger has cancelled his tests at Silverstone (England). Teams are preparing for the British Grand Prix there. Berger is still not fit enough after his sinus operation. It's still unclear if he will drive during the next Grand Prix.

Jordan is looking very strong because Ralf Schumacher was the fastest man on the track ahead of Frentzen and his brother Michael.
