Formula One World Champion Damon Hill has been named BBC Sports Personality of the Year. Hill had already won the award two years ago and said: "I feel immensely proud to take this award. It's made my year for me."

The new Tyrrell for the 1997 season will be presented to the public on January 20. Testing will commence as soon as possible.
