Ferrari have made a deal with the Sauber team to deliver them engines over the next two years. They will develop the 1996 V10 for Sauber. Sauber said Ferrari will "manufacture, supply and develop" a Formula One engine for them. Ferrari have always strongly denied to any involvement in any other team after the last time they had tried it, with Scuderia Italia.

Osamo Goto, ex-Ferrari, has been appointed as head of Sauber's Engineering group.

Alesi to Jordan?

Jean Alesi is talking to Jordan for a ride in 1997. He and Benetton-boss Flavio Briatore were not too happy about the results of Alesi this year. However Martin Brundle really wants to stay on at the Jordan-Peugeot team.

Brundle commented: "There is nowhere else I want to go and nothing else I want to do, but drive the Jordan next year. But it hit me the other day that Suzuka might have been my last grand prix and was a bit of a shock actually because I haven't really confronted that before. But I don't think it will be -- so don't write me off just yet."
