The second is the best rookie in that championship: Joao Barbosa (Portuguese). He came in second in the championship with 126 points. The 21 year old drove a best time of 1m 18.220s.
The third one was Esteban Tuero, who was already the test driver for the team. The Argentinian clocked a fastest time on the circuit of 1m 17.060s. This time is faster than the fastest time of the ciruit set in March by Tarso Marques, 1m 17.070s. Tuero was thirteenth in this year's Italian Formula Three championship with 16 points.
Giancarlo Minardi stated: "It has almost become a tradition for Minardi giving the possibility to drivers who have demonstrated to be competitive in the minor categories. During the past years, thanks to us, young drivers like Giancarlo Fisichella, Christian Pescatori, Thomas Biagi and Tarso Marques have been able to make a first contact with F1. I am aware of the fact that, that of mine is a small and unfortunately isolated contribution and I am of the idea that something should be done to promote Italian drivers".
