The World Motor Sport Council met to examine the proposals submitted by the different Commissions. The following decisions were taken for next year:
Each car must be fitted with an accident data recorder supplied by the FIA.
Each tyre supplier may supply two specifications of dry-weather tyres only at each Event (previously one specification only). Per driver this means the will be allowed to use nine sets of dry-weather, in stead of seven, and seven sets of rain tyres. However from the 28 dry-weather tyres allowed to be used in qualifying, warmup and race, there will be picked four complete sets at random by the FIA which the driver is allowed to use in qualifying. He is also allowed to use two specifications of the dry-weather tyre, but must specify which type is going to use before qualifying for qualifying, warmup and the race.
There are also several new rules on testing. Testing is prohibited at sites which are not currently approved for Formula One and also on any circuit outside Europe, other then general testing organised by the Commercial Rights Holder.
Testing is prohibited on any circuit: During the seven days preceding the race day at each Event, except for a shakedown test of 50 km maximum, and between the last event of the Championship and 1 December.
The management of the Imola (Italy) circuit have presented a plan to stop the track invasions. The World Motorsport council have approved this.
