Variety Magazine has reported that there are two competing films emerging about the life of Ayrton Senna. Warner Brothers have a project on the table, supposedly starring Antonio Banderas, with Ridley Scott of Blade Runner fame, close to directing.
The other project is with New Line Cinema, with Renny Harlin (Cliffhanger) directing. Harlin's screenwriter has the rights to several books including: Senna: "The Hard Edge of Genius", "The Legend Grows", "The Second Coming" and "Adriane ... My Life With Ayrton."
Variety stirred some fears in the Formula 1 world over accuracy of the projects by reporting " Both projects are about Brazilian race car driver Ayrton Senna, who was killed in an accident at the 1994 Monte Carlo [sic] Grand Prix."
