Damon Hill has brushed off the suggestions he is on the verge of beating Michael Schumacher's and Nigel Mansell's record number of wins in the season. Hill said he is concentrating on victories, not records. "The races are running out but I just have to keep on winning and concentrating". Hill is looking foward to the coming Hungary Grand Prix, and notes that "The next race in Hungary is always a tough one, very demanding for a driver and I am going to rest properly and prepare well for it."

Hill leaves for a week long holiday, while Jacques Villeneuve will begin scheduled testing soon at Nogaro in France. Williams need only to score two world championship points in the next five races to secure the Constuctors Championship.

Villeneuve explained that Williams had failed to discover that his car had a faulty suspension damper until shortly before the start of the German Grand Prix. Villeneuve said "It would have made a difference to me if I had known about it earlier, for qualifying."

Former WC injured

Emerson Fittipaldi, the 1972 and 1974 World Champion, was injured on Sunday in a huge crash at the Michigan 500. Fittipaldi is listed in seriuos condition, with injuries including a fracture of the seventh cervical vertebra and a partially collapsed left lung. On the first lap of the race, Fittipaldi collided with rookie driver Greg Moore. Moore was uninjured in the crash.
