Hill takes pole for Grand Prix of Spain

Summary
Damon Hill clinched the pole position for the Grand Prix of Spain today in a time of 1:20.650. He outpaced his team-mate Villeneuve who was second with 1:21.084. Schumacher was again looking strong in the red Ferrari, he was third with 1:21.587, but he was still almost a second slower than is rival Damon Hill.
Notes:
- Spins were there by: Diniz.
- Jaqcues Villeneuve and Eddie Irvine both get a new engine because their engines blew in the morning session.
- Tyrrell is using a new front wheel suspension.
- Hill has already suffered two right-rear-wheel flats, which may give problems in the race.
- Schumacher used his T-car after the first run in qualifying.
- Katayama blows up his Yamaha engine in the last minute of the session.
- The Forti cars, who did not qualify, went from ugly to uglier with the new green-white colour scheme. They have new colours because of a new Irish sponsor.
