The organisers of the San Marino Grand Prix have to appear before the World Motor Sport council in Paris (France) on June 11. The reason for this is that spectators climbed over the fences and crowded the circuit when Schumacher parked his broken Ferrari on the start-finish straight, after claiming second place.

Gerhard Berger had to park his Benetton-Renault beside the track just after crossing the finish line, because as Berger said: "It was too dangerous to continue."

Eddie Irvine did the same and had to fight his way back to the pits through the over enthusiastic spectators.

Tests at Imola

Michael Schumacher drove the fastest time of the day at Imola today. He was being observed by Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo. Schumacher used the test car with the 1995 gearbox and a standard engine. His best time was a 1:28.48. He will drive a complete race distance (63 laps) tomorrow with a car fitted with the qualifying engine used in the San Marino Grand Prix.

Second was Gerhard Berger in the Benetton followed by Villeneuve in the Williams.
